Most people don't fit perfectly into just ONE personality... and that's okay!

Understanding ALL four types helps you design a retirement

that honors every part of who you are.

You took our quiz and discovered your PRIMARY retirement personality—congratulations!

But here's what we've learned from working with hundreds of GenXers planning retirement:

Most people are a blend of 2-3 personalities, with one being dominant.

Maybe you're:

  • 60% Adventurous Explorer + 30% Social Butterfly + 10% Zen Relaxer

  • 50% Ambitious Creator + 40% Zen Relaxer + 10% Adventurous Explorer

  • 70% Social Butterfly + 20% Adventurous Explorer + 10% Ambitious Creator

There's no wrong combination. The goal is to design a retirement that honors ALL parts of who you are.

"The world is my playground!"

What Drives You: You see retirement as the ultimate adventure. Your passport is always ready, and your bucket list keeps growing.

Whether it's globetrotting to exotic destinations, taking extended stays abroad, booking back-to-back cruises, or simply saying "yes" to spontaneous road trips, you crave new experiences and the freedom to explore. Curiosity drives you, and the world is your playground. Retirement isn't about slowing down... it's about finally having the time to see it all!

Any questions? We are here to help.

What if my quiz results don't feel quite right?

Quiz results show tendencies based on your answers, but YOU know yourself best. If you read through all four personalities and think "I'm actually more of a [different personality]," trust your gut!

The quiz is a starting point, not a diagnosis.

Many people are close to 50/50 between two types, so the quiz picked one—but you might genuinely be both. Use the personality that resonates most when making retirement plans.

Can your dominant personality change over time?

Absolutely! Many people shift personalities as they move through retirement. You might start as an Adventurous Explorer (traveling heavily in your 60s), transition to Zen Relaxer (settling into peaceful routines in your 70s), and discover Ambitious Creator tendencies (taking up new hobbies or teaching) along the way.

Life circumstances change, health changes, and priorities evolve. Your retirement can evolve too. The goal is to plan for who you are NOW while staying flexible for who you might become.

Does my personality affect how much money I need to retire?

YES! This is crucial to understand:

  • Adventurous Explorers typically need 20-30% MORE than average if travel is a priority (but can offset this with smart strategies like slow travel and geographic arbitrage)

  • Zen Relaxers often need LESS than average if they're content with simple pleasures and low-cost hobbies

  • Ambitious Creators may need less saved upfront if they plan to generate income in retirement (but need startup capital for business expenses)

  • Social Butterflies need to budget for social activities, group travel, and hosting expenses (but can share costs with others)

The "standard" retirement calculator doesn't account for YOUR unique lifestyle. That's why understanding your personality is so important for accurate planning.

What if my partner has a completely different retirement personality than me?

This is VERY common—and manageable with good communication! Here's how to navigate it:

Step 1: Both take the quiz and discuss results openly

Step 2: Identify overlaps (where your visions align) and gaps (where they differ)

Step 3: Create a retirement plan that honors BOTH personalities

Real example:

  • Partner A = Adventurous Explorer (wants to travel extensively)

  • Partner B = Ambitious Creator (wants to build a business and needs stability)

Solution: Partner B builds a location-flexible business (online courses, consulting, digital products). They travel together for 2-3 months at a time to destinations with good internet, where Partner B works mornings and they explore together afternoons/weekends. They come home for 2-3 months where Partner B focuses on business growth while Partner A plans the next adventure. Both partners are together, AND both get what they need.

The key: Compromise doesn't mean one person sacrifices—it means both people get ENOUGH of what they need to be happy.

I'm a mix of ALL FOUR personalities. Is that possible?

It's possible, but rare! If you genuinely feel like all four personalities equally, here are two possibilities:

Possibility 1: You're in transition You might be exploring what you want and haven't landed on a clear vision yet. That's okay! Try this: Imagine you have $10,000 and one month of free time. How would you spend it? Your answer will reveal your dominant personality.

Possibility 2: You're a "Renaissance Retiree" Some people genuinely want it all—adventure AND peace AND creativity AND community. If that's you, you'll need to:

  • Plan for a higher budget (diverse interests = diverse expenses)

  • Think in seasons (adventure season, creative season, social season, rest season)

  • Accept that you can't do everything at once (but you can do everything eventually)

The key: Even Renaissance Retirees usually have a PRIMARY driver. What would you be most upset to NOT have in retirement? That's your dominant personality.
